School tours and the Ticket to Ride program.

Aqueduct Park Aldrich Change Bridge

If you are teaching your students about the Erie Canal, you have an opportunity to take your students to the canal, here in Palmyra, NY, with the Ticket to Ride program through the Erie Canalway Heritage Corridor.

The Ticket to Ride program provides funding to help you take advantage of first-rate educational field trips to the Erie Canal. The program covers both bus and tour fees, making for a no-cost field trip. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are exhausted.

Typical field trips tour historical locations on the canal, four museums, and take a break for lunch at a local pavilion.

Our school tours allow students to experience several important locations:

  • Aldrich Change Bridge

  • Towpath Bridge and Aqueduct Supports

  • Canal Powerhouse

  • Lock 29

  • Towpath Trail

  • Palmyra Historical Museum

  • Erie Canal Depot

  • Print Shop Museum

  • Phelps General Store and Residence
